The 10,440 holes that give the work its name were made one by one, through a slow, meticulous process of carving and shaping the wood. The surface emerges from a repeated, almost instinctive gesture inspired by the traces left in wood by wood-boring insects.

Ultramarine blue penetrates the material and deepens it, while the glossy finish catches and reflects the light, intensifying the colour and continually revealing new details, shadows and cavities.
